The Village Players of Toledo and 3B Productions are collaborating to present the Tony-Award winning musical “Cabaret! “
Cabaret was written by Joe Masteroff based of the novel I Am the Camera by Christopher Isherwood. Music and Lyrics composed by the incomparable writing team of Kander and Ebb.
Show times are: Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. ; and Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. at The Village Players Theatre, 2740 Upton Ave, Toledo
Set in the pre-WWII Berlin, Germany, American Clifford Bradshaw (Brad King ) enters a world of decadence, sexual freedom and the rise of Hitler’s Nazi regime as he meets many colorful characters including his muse, Sally Bowles (Kristin Kukic) and the colorful Master of Ceremonies (David Dysard ) at the hedonistic Kit Kat Klub.
Entangled in his journey we encounter Fraulein Schneider (Annelise Clifton), owner of the Boarding House where Cliff resides along with Herr Schultz (Evan James Copeland), the Jewish fruit seller and love interest of Frau Schneider.
As Cliff navigates this new and exciting world, he is enticed to help his new friend, Ernst Ludwig (Charles Russell) smuggle Nazi funds into Berlin. Upon realizing his mistake, Cliff’s world begins to crumble as his relationships begin to fall apart and the Third Reich rises to power in Germany.
The production is directed and co-produced with Dave Nelms by Joe Barton with musical direction by Janine Baughman, choreography by Joe Dennehy and Jacob Toth, and stage managed by Rose Roberts.
Also, in the cast are: Becky Beebe, Grace Whetstone, Molly Whetstone, Kristin Osinski, Angiovanna Gresko, Becky Beebe, Savannah Nine, Gavin Miller, Andy Roberts, Matthew Badyna, and Jerri Measley. Kit Kat Club Dancers are: Abigail Amundson, Liz Badyna, Ashley Crawford, Hillary Gibson, Liz Latta, Jerri Measley, and Fiona Parrish.
