Cocoon thanks community for supporting 17 years of services for survivors

The Cocoon, Wood County’s only comprehensive domestic and sexual violence agency, recognized 17 years of serving survivors at their second annual Parking Lot Party on Saturday, June 25th.

With the support of Buckeye Broadband, Arlyn’s Good Beer, and State Bank, the community had an opportunity to come together throughout the day to support survivors and learn more about The Cocoon’s services. Some who attended were first time visitors to Arlyn’s, some who attended learned about The Cocoon for the first time, and many were longtime friends and supporters who wanted to once again show that they stand with survivors.

“Community collaborations are a wonderful way for local organizations to come together and show unity in support of survivors. We greatly appreciate Buckeye Broadband’s sponsorship, Arlyn’s Good Beer for lending their space and donating a portion of their sales, State Bank for collecting donations at their GIVES Truck and providing snack options for guests throughout the day. The outpouring of support surrounding this fundraiser once again demonstrates the compassion of the folks in Wood and our surrounding counties,” said Kathy Mull, The Cocoon’s Executive Director.

All proceeds from the event will be put directly back into supporting programs and services for the more than 800 survivors, and their children, who seek help annually.

The Cocoon’s services are always provided to survivors at no cost, eliminating financial barriers that may prohibit some from reaching out.
