The Wood County commissioners Doris Herringshaw, Craig LaHote and Ted Bowlus are pleased to join with Stan Korducki, president of Wood County Hospital, and Dr. Dhaval Parikh, Cancer Care Center medical director, in support of prostate cancer awareness during the month of September.

A short presentation will be made on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at the Maurer Family Cancer Care Center, located in the medical office building next to the Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green.

Every year, an estimated 165,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, and about 29,430 will die of the disease.  Additionally, men with relatives with a history of prostate cancer are twice as likely to develop the disease, but have a five-year survival rate of nearly 100 percent if it is caught early.
