Community bands to present ‘American Celebration’

The Bowling Green Area Community Bands present an “American Celebration” concert on Sunday, March 19, at the Bowling Green Schools Performing Arts Center, 530 West Poe Road. The concert is free and doors open at 3:30 p.m. The concert begins at 4 p.m.

Under the baton of Catherine P. Lewis, the concert band, with guest vocalists Richard Lewis, baritone, and Anna Singer, soprano, will perform Rick Kirby’s “American Fanfare”; Jay Dawson’s “Gettysburg: The Third Day” (a tone poem describing the battle); “Bewitched by Love”, which was especially arranged for this concert by Joel Miller; Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone”; Randall Standridge’s “The Nine” (written in honor of the Little Rock Central Nine); Irving berlin’s “America”; and Henry Fillmore’s “Go Galop”.

BiG Band BG, led by Rob Cintron and Brian Bushong with guest vocalist Elizabeth Green, will be performing “Route 66,” arranged Michael Sweeney; “Slane,” arranged Tim Fisher; and “Stairway to the Stars,” arranged by Bill Lake.
