Community farm festival flooded out by rainfall

Visitors tour barn during Heritage Farm Fest at Carter Historic Farm in 2016

The Heritage Farm Fest at Carter Historic Farm scheduled for June 1 has been canceled. The farm fields, parking lot, woodlot, and farm yard are all flooded. With more rain in the forecast, it is necessary to place public safety first and cancel the event.

The Wood County Park District hopes to reschedule the Farm Fest for autumn. If the fields dry out enough to plant, the autumn event can be a community harvest party.

This is a good reminder that as an agricultural community, we are all dependent on the weather and sometimes, we are dependent on each other, according to the park district.
