Community Learning Center to host ‘Finance Night’ for families

Do you need help with savings? Want to learn how to handle your finances better?

The Community Learning Center invites you to come out to the Wood County Educational Service Center, 1867 N. Research Drive, Bowling Green, on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m., to hear guest speaker Chad Plontz.

Plontz is a financial advisor who will be sharing tips and tricks for CLC families spending and saving strategies. Parents and children will receive a free dinner, free childcare, and free take-home gift bags for those who RSVP.

Parent take-home bags will include a budgeting book and helpful financial tools. Children’s bags will include a piggy bank and a financial book to encourage saving. In addition to dinner and take-home bags, there will also be multiple raffle prizes for families, including a chance to win local business gift cards and additional budgeting materials.

The Community Learning Centers Finance Night will have a heavy focus on helping families simplify their spending and savings strategies. Participants will learn about setting personal financial goals, balancing savings, spending, and borrowing to achieve goals.

Further, the guest speaker will touch on strategies for controlling debt, improving credit scores, and practical savings options for now through years of retirement. While the parents are with the guest speaker, the CLC staff will be leading students through a fun hands-on experience to create their own lemonade stand, run a pizza store, and learn about supply and demand.

This event is intended to be a fun and educational opportunity for the whole family.
