In response to the current crisis we will use our community events space to keep our readers informed of what has been canceled, postponed and otherwise altered. A number of these notices have links (the text in blue) to stories with more information. We hope in time we can return to informing you about what’s happening in our community, instead of what’s not happening.

Wells-Jensens to lead final Monday ukulele session, April 20
Want to learn more about playing the ukulele, but were afraid to ask? Join Jason and Sheri Wells-Jensen of the Grand Royale Ukulelists of the Black Swamp (GRUBS) on Monday 20, 2-2:30 for the final of their series FaceBook Live tutorials on WCDPL’s FaceBook page.
Perrysburg Musical Troupe cancels ‘Matilda’
The Perrysburg Musical Theatre has canceled its summer musical “Matilda.” is unfortunately canceled this season. The show was scheduled for June 25-28.
The troupe still hopes to be able to schedule the musical based on the Roald Dahl novel at some point. PMT is compiling a list of shows for its next season, and is planning to ” return to a classic musica for its 2021 summer musical.
Patrons who have already purchased tickets for “Matilda” should contact perrysburgmusicaltheatre@gmail.com for a refund.
Youngsters 8-16 can audition for “The Show Must Go Online” by BEAT BY BEAT PRESS. If interested, email at perrysburgmusicaltheatre@gmail.com to get audition information.
Toledo Symphony pulls plug on season
The Toledo Symphony has canceled the remainder of its season, which runs through June 6.
Ticket holders may contact the box office at boxoffice@artstoledo.com to donate the value of their tickets to the organization or request a refund.
Virtual Art Walk planned for BG, April 25 with voting from April 15-24
After announcing Art Walk wold be canceled, Downtown Bowling Green S.I.D. and The Bowling Green Arts Council have decided to present a Virtual Art Walk on April 25.
Awards will be selected by popular vote from the community. The show and voting will be featured at: https://downtownbgohio.org/art-walk.
Visitors are vote for their favorite artist online from April 15 through noon on April 24.
The deadline to sign up was April 10 at bowlinggreenartscouncil@gmail.com.
Wood County District Public Library extends closure through May 4
In support of the Governor’s Extended Stay-At-Home Order, Wood County District Public Library (Bowling Green, Walbridge, and Bookmobile) will remain closed until Monday, May 4.
In addition, all library events and public use of meeting spaces are cancelled through the end of May. Finally, no meeting space reservations will be accepted for the foreseeable future.
Please keep your items while we are closed. All due dates will be changed to mid-May for now.
Library users are asked to watch wcdpl.org for updates as they occur, and to take advantage of the many electronic resources–from eBooks to audiobooks to magazines & movies to research databases. The buildings may be closed, but these resources are offered through the website 24/7. Moreover, many of them may be used from home without needing to login with your library card.
Blood analysis program postponed
The annual blood analysis program, co-sponsored by Wood County Hospital Foundation and the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundatio, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The program had been scheduled for April 25.
Most registrants have been notified via email or phone. Anyone registered and who did not receive an email or phone call, should email events@bgchamber.net for details of the postponement.
When a new date is scheduled, all registrants will be notified again with that information.
County museum reschedules whiskey tasting & teas
The Wood County Historical Center has rescheduled its Historical Program & Whiskey Tasting with Elliot MacFarlane for Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, from 7-9 p.m.
Those registered will have their tickets automatically be updated. Those unable to attend, should contact the museum to start the cancellation and refund process at 419-352-0967 or marketing@woodcountyhistory.org.
The April 9 Bicentennial Tea with a talk by historian Becky Mancuso has been moved to June 4. The May 14 Archives Tea has been rescheduled for Sept. 3.
Registrations for both teas will automatically be updated. Those unable to attend, should contact Marissa Muniz at marketing@woodcountyhistory.org or call 419-352-0967 to start the cancellation and refund process.
The April 4 Blacksith Open Forge Demonstration and the April 8 Breakfast, Briefing, & Brew: Coffee & Museum Tour (Hosted by the BG Chamber of Commerce) have been canceled.
BGSU concert series launched on YouTube, through April 25
The College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University is presenting the Kobacker and Bryan Virtual Concert Hall Series on the CMA YouTubeChannel every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. through April 25.
Each program will feature a new concert from the college’s archives. The programs feature a diverse mix of concerts that put the talents of faculty and students front and center
Toledo Symphony, WGTE team up to present concerts through May 17
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra and WGTE Public Media are offering weekly broadcasts of Toledo Symphony archival performances recorded at the Toledo Museum of Art’s Peristyle Theater. WGTE Presents: TSO in HD will air on WGTE Sundays at 6 p.m. through May 17.
Wood County Park District closes playgrounds & extends cancelations through May 18
The Wood County Park District has extended the cancelation of all facility rentals and public programs through May 18,. At that time, the district will reassess the situation for further actions.
Also, the district is closing all playgrounds. The contact surfaces on these intricate public play spaces are all surfaces on which the COVID-19 virus can remain viably transmittable. Playgrounds will be closed until further notice.
There is no need to call the park offices to cancel a rental from now through May 18. All refunds will be issued automatically by the park office. All renters will receive a refund in the form of a check from the Wood County Auditor’s office within the next month or two.
The administrative offices at Park District Headquarters will be open for telephone calls, but closed to public access.
All Wood County Park District parks remain open to the public daily from 8 a.m. until 30 minutes past sunset.
Look to the wcparks.org website and follow “What’s New,” for up-to-date park information as this situation evolves. For disease and health information, please contact the Wood County Health Department, The Ohio Department of Health, and/or the Center for Disease Control.
Historical museum to close through April 30
The Wood County Museum will close to the public effective Monday, March 16, and remain closed through Thursday, April 30. The museum grounds will remain open as a public park daily from 8 a.m. until 30 minutes past sunset.
All events, tours, and rentals scheduled from now through April 30 are canceled and in the process of being rescheduled. Updates will be posted at woodcountyhistory.org
All volunteer shifts and meetings are cancelled. Alternate arrangements can be made by calling the museum at 419-352-0967.
The museum stated that the closure was made “in consideration of the health of our visitors, volunteers, staff, and the community at large.”
The Wood County Museum will continue to follow the guidelines and recommendations of local, state, and national organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to monitor the COVID-19 situation.
Horizon Youth Theatre pulled up short by coronavirus
The Horizon Youth Theatre has postponed its “Festival of Shorts,” which had been scheduled for April 3-5.
The troupe had earlier announced it was suspending rehearsals for the show.
The Board of Directors decided HYT could not justify holding rehearsals and performances given the schools were closed. The directors also stated they did not want to reschedule for April or May, only to announce another postponement if the situation changes.
The directors are now looking to reschedule the show, which features short plays written by HYT members, on July 17, 18, and 19.
Interfaith Breakfast will not be served
The 6th annual 2020 Bowling Green Interfaith Breakfast, originally slated to be held on April 21 at the new Veterans Building in City Park, has been canceled.
The organizers state: “While we understand the breakfast serves as an important event in our community, we understand the seriousness of the chance of spreading viruses through close contact.”
Not In Our Town Bowling Green will look to rescheduling the event at some undetermined date.

Modern Woodmen won’t dine out until after May 1
Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Chapter Events through April 30 have all been canceled and will be rescheduled after May 1. This includes but is not limited to the following events:
- March 19 – Fricker’s – Bowling Green
- March 23 – Beckett’s Burger Bar – Bowling Green
Kiwanis meetings on hold at least through April 30
Due to Governor DeWine’s executive order requiring all bars and restaurants to discontinue in-person service, and to practice at social/physical distancing, BG Kiwanis Club meetings have been canceled at least through April 30. It is suspected that future meetings and events will be canceled or postponed, as well.
Peace Lutheran livestreams service, cancels Taize service, soup & talk
Peace Lutheran Church in Bowling Green has canceled its Thursday 6 p.m. Taize service and 6:45 Soup & Conversation Table Time.
It will now have one “calm and casual” Sunday service at 10 a.m. The service will be livestreamed.
St. John’s Episcopal suspends services
Based on Gov. Mike DeWine’s directive, as well as the edict passed by the bishop, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bowling Green will not be holding in-person services until further notice.
Alumni banquet canceled
The Rudolph/Liberty/Westwood Alumni Banquet originally scheduled for May 2 has been canceled.
H2O Church to livestream worship
H2O Church will not gather publicly for worship at our Downtown Venue or on Campus. In place of our normal 3 gathering, we will be livestreaming our worship and teaching at 10:30 a.m. at https://www.youtube.com/h2ochurchbg.
St. Mark’s curtails non-worship activities
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, BG has adopted the following policies .
All non-worship events have been canceled effective immediately.
Wednesday Night Live will still provide meals, however, meals will be boxed and must be picked up at the door. Prayer requests will still be taken and prayed over by the volunteers at the end of the evening.
Wood County Area Ministries (WAM) offices will be closed. WAM applications can still be submitted online (wamhelps.org) or by calling the church office (419) 353-9305.
Worship: All three services will continue as scheduled.
Online worship: For those who choose not to come to worship, we will be streaming the full service on Facebook Live. The audio will be available on our website and podcast feed.
Covenant Church presents services on Facebook Live
Bowling Green Covenant Church will be physically closed. Live worship and preaching will be aired on Facebook Live at 10 a.m. each Sunday.
Toledo Opera cancels April’s judicial double bill
The Toledo Opera has announced that in compliance with Governor Mike DeWine’s order “it is impossible for us to produce Trial by Jury and Scalia/Ginsburg and therefore we are cancelling our performances on April 17, 18, and 19.”
Tickets will be honored at a future date. The opera is also suspending its community engagement public programming series aligned with the spring production.
Wood County Board of DD cancels events this month
At the recommendations made by Gov. Mike DeWine in preparation for the response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities has made the decision to suspend the remaining DD Awareness Month activities for March.
This includes the following events:
- Improvaneer workshop and Performance/Provider Showcase on March 19
- The Best Buddies Leadership Training on March 27
- Community Conversations: Lead with Inclusion on March 31
The events may be rescheduled in the future.
Toledo Museum to take respite through April 30
TMA has extended its public closure to April 30 to remain compliant with the stay-at-home order issued by the state of Ohio.
All public programs, art classes and workshops set to occur through April 6 will be canceled or postponed.
A new section TMA at Home has been added to the Museum’s website. Staff have compiled a variety of materials to make sure people can still come on in to the Museum remotely. Adding new activities and content to this page is an ongoing effort.
Yayoi Kusama: Fireflies on the Water ticket holders may contact Visitor Services at customerservice@toledomuseum.org or 419-255-8000 ext. 7448 to arrange a refund or reschedule their dates for Yayoi Kusama: Fireflies on the Water.
TMA is closely monitoring guidance from government agencies and will continue to follow their direction as new information about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is released. The above guidelines are subject to change or be extended as deemed necessary by the Museum.

Valentine Theatre closing during statewide ban
The Valentine Theatre will close until statewide ban on mass gatherings of 100 or more people has been lifted.
At present, presentations of the Broadway musical Finding Neverland, All Glass City Improv events, the Children’s Series show The Magic School Bus, Toledo School for the Arts The Graffiti Project, the Grease Sing-Along, and the Toledo Jazz Orchestra’s 40 Years of Jazz are either canceled or postponed.
We will, in time, reschedule what we can for a ticket exchange, offer vouchers for upcoming shows, or process refunds through our box office at 419-242-2787.
