Bowling Green State University is seeing an increase in cases on a daily average basis, Ben Batey, the chief health officer, reported tonight (Sept. 23).
From Sept. 16 through Sept. 22, the university has had 116 new cases, including one faculty member and one staff member.
Twenty-four residential students who have tested positive are now isolated in university housing, and 28 who are awaiting test results back are in quarantine in residence halls. Last week five were in isolation and 10 were in quarantine.
Those who test positive have been in touch with those doing contact tracing.
From Aug. 20 through Sept. 21, 399 students have had randomized surveillance testing, and 11 have tested positive, a 2.7-percent positivity rate.
Batey said he is in daily contact with the Wood County Hospital, and reported they are not seeing any trend in increased in hospitalizations. No one from the faculty, staff, nor students has been hospitalized with COVID-19.
