Fifteen members of the Eastwood FFA Chapter Members attended the National FFA Convention in November. Seven of the chapter members received their American FFA Degrees during the convention.
Jacob Gallant, Kaitlyn Luidhart, Hannah Lang, Ava Keifer, Jesse Sundermeier, Ashlyn O’Brien, and Sam Rapp were awarded the American Degree. O’Brien and Rapp were unable to attend.
To receive the highest FFA degree, members must have obtained the State FFA Degree, been an active member for three years, participated in chapter and state-level activities and graduated at least 12 months before the national convention.
Throughout the four days of the convention, members attended leadership sessions featuring guest speakers Juan Bendanan, Corey Florunoy and National FFA President Andrew Seibel.
They had the opportunity to watch Lainey Wilson perform songs only for FFA members. They visited Kelsey Farms, a fifth-generation farm with land given by one of the U.S. presidents, and Goat Milk Stuff, a goat farm that makes natural soaps from goat milk, where they enjoyed a meal at the end of the farm tour.
“The National FFA Convention Is a great learning opportunity because it shows different parts of agriculture and opportunities that you don’t get to have at school,” said chapter member Logan McBride.
