Gathering Volumes will be hosting a release party for Anastasia Ryan’s new novel, “Not Bad for a Girl,” on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
The book release celebration will kick-off at 6:30 pm at Gathering Volumes, 196. E. South Boundary St. Perrysburg. Light refreshments will be served as well as a reading by the author followed by a Q&A and book signing.
A workplace comedy of errors,”Not Bad for a Girl” is a hilarious follow-up to Ryan’s debut novel, You Should Smile More, also published by Sourcebooks Casablanca in 2023.
“As a local bookstore part of our mission is to support local authors,” says Denise Phillips, owner of Gathering Volumes, “and Anastasia Ryan makes that part of our mission so much fun! I laughed out loud while reading both ‘You Should Smile More’ and ‘Not Bad for a Girl.’ I can’t imagine any woman not being able to relate with the protagonists of both books.”
“Not Bad for a Girl” blends humor with workplace conflict, women’s rights, and a budding romance. Indiana “Ana” Aaron is a talented coder and IT specialist, but she doesn’t always fit in at work. When she speaks up one too many times for her boss’s ego, she’s transferred to a remote team—and it’s clear this is her last chance to acclimate. When her new boss praises her assertiveness and thanks “Mr. Aaron,” and she doesn’t immediately correct him, things spiral out of control.
Anastasia Ryan has degrees in English Literature and Pop Culture. Her debut novel, “You Should Smile More” released in January 2023. “Not Bad for a Girl” is her second thoughtfully funny look at the absurdities of our modern workplace.
