A Findlay man died Friday (12-29-23) when the SUV he was operating struck a tractor trailer head on U.S. 23 in Troy Township.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, which responded at 1:29 p.m., Jason Crampton, 48, was southbound just north of Sugar Ridge Rd in a Honda CRV Sport Utility Vehicle when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a Kenworth semi-tractor operated by Edward Poole, 59, Detroit.
Poole attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.
Crampton, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Poole was uninjured. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The truck was hauling an empty tanker trailer.
Assisting the Wood County Sheriff’s Office on location was Troy Township Fire Dept. and EMS, Freedom Township Fire Dept, and Pemberville EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation, VJ’s Towing, Shipley’s Towing, Pat and Sons Towing.
The crash remains under Investigation.
The incident closed the highway for almost four hours.
