Herb McMaster, a loving husband and father and a good friend to many passed August 25th after suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
Herb was a long time Bowling Green resident. He grew up McComb, Ohio where he enjoyed sports and participated in football and basketball. Before entering college he served as a medic in the US Army in Korea. He attended and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in civil engineering.

His engineering career included employment with the Ohio Department of Highways, acting Wood County Sanitary Engineer and Poggemeyer Design Group serving as a civil engineer. He retired at age sixty to spend time with his hobby of breeding, training and racing horses. He owned Dynasty Hill Farm outside Bowling Green.

He married his college sweetheart Mabel Finley and they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this September. Besides his wife he leaves behind children Lou Anne, Ken and Beth, two granddaughters and one great grandson. He has two sisters, Sandy Rowland who lives in Bowling Green and Wilma Anderson of Leesburg Fl. A brother Ron proceeded him in death.

His children will remember him as a father who took time to attend their school and sporting activities. Although Herb could not swim he never missed a swimming event with his children. He served as a timer for years for the Bowling Green Swim Club. He never played hockey yet he coached his son’s hockey team. He was honored to be the coach for an all-star hockey team in which Scott Hamilton played as a child.

Herb was faithful to the football team of his alma mater, The Ohio State Buckeyes. He could always be found in front of the TV on football Saturdays watching his team. His choice of clothes were Buckeye colors.

Private services with military honors will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 15th at one o’clock at the Wintergarden Lodge in Bowling Green. The family suggests wearing the Scarlet and Gray colors to honor his favorite football team.
