Joe Edens has announced his candidacy for the Bowling Green City Schools Board of Education. With a firm commitment to improving the condition of the community by growing the quality of the schools, Edens aims to bring a positive change to the district and create an environment in which every student can thrive.
Trained in K-12 and higher education, Edens has dedicated his career to the advancement of education through his professional roles and volunteer service.
According to the Bowling Green Community Foundation, he is director of advancement at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Buffalo.
Edens is active in the support of Bowling Green City Schools as a member of several levy and bond issue committees and the Bowling Green Schools Foundation, currently serving as president. Edens is also member of the boards for the Bowling Green Community Foundation and The Cocoon as well as being a member of Bowling Green Kiwanis.
“We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to set in motion the future of education for our community. I want to help Bowling Green City Schools not only rise to an expected call but to exceed the expected. In order to do that we must, together, find the ways to deliver our students, teachers, and staff the learning environment they deserve.”
Edens maintains that providing the best educational opportunities for students requires a comprehensive approach. His campaign platform is centered around four key areas: establishing new school facilities, attracting and retaining high-quality professionals, removing obstacles that limit student success and cultivating a greater relationship between the community and the school board.
