Joseph Phillips

Joseph E. Phillips, 88, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away February 27, 2020. Joseph was born on October 22, 1931 to the late Earl and Beulah (Stockwell) Phillips in Wood County, Ohio. He married Clarinda I. Ramage on April 21, 1984 in Van Buren, Ohio and they were married 22 years before she preceded him in death on January 4, 2007.

Joseph is survived by his stepchildren: Tevon (Jeff) Elwood of Forest, Ohio and Fred (Kim) Hilt Jr. of Wayne, Ohio; sister Marialyce Barringer of Bowling Green, Ohio; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers: Fred, Dick, and David Phillips.

Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a welder for 18 years at Reed Air Products in Bradner, retiring in 1992. Joseph was known as a very patient, loving, and quiet man. His family could not remember a time he ever raised his voice. He loved to read books, getting out to do something- even if it was just to get a cup of coffee. Joseph enjoyed watching old western and war movies, and his favorites always starred John Wayne. Joseph adored his grandchildren and he will be greatly missed by all.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Wood County Memory Gardens, 15426 Liberty Hi Road, Bowling Green, Ohio.

Memorial contributions in Joseph’s honor may be gifted to the American Cancer Society.
