League of Women Voters urges citizens to check voter registration & remember to bring photo ID to polls

League of Women Voters' signs on the Wooster Green gazebo promoting early voting during the 2020 general election.

The League of Women Voters would like to remind voters that if they want to vote in the November 7 election, they must be registered to vote by October 10. Voter registration forms can be obtained from the Wood County Library and from the Board of Elections. Feedback from the August election indicated that a number of people who attempted to vote were not registered.  Voters must re-register every time they change their address. We encourage people to ask their friends and family members if they are registered, and to verify their registration status at the Secretary of State’s website:   https://voterlookup.ohiosos.gov/voterlookup.aspx

We also want to remind people that voters must now have a photo ID such as an Ohio driver’s license, US or State military ID, or passport to vote, and the ID cannot be expired. In August, some voters discovered that their ID had expired when they went to the polls. Out of state driver’s license and student IDs cannot be used as ID.  Voters who do not have a driver’s license, but need an ID to vote, can get a free Ohio state ID from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
