Library celebrating top kids’ picture book award throughout January

From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Do you want to learn more about the Caldecott Medal, the top award for children’s book illustration? Explore a new interactive learning room at the Wood County District Public Library! WCDPL’s Caldecott Award learning room is open Jan. 1-31 in the Children’s Place.

In preparation of WCDPL’s Mock Caldecott program on Sunday, January 29, the Children’s Place Interactive Learning Room will be filled with a carefully curated collection of picture books published in 2022. Recorded videos of these picture books are also available through the WCDPL YouTube channel. The link can be found on at wcdpl.org, or viewed on a computer in the interactive room.

WCDPL is encouraging readers and artists of all ages to come peruse these picture books to vote on the books that will be in the Mock Caldecott event. Patrons can vote in the room in person through the month of January.

The Caldecott Award will be announced on Monday, Jan. 30 by the American Library

Association (ALA). WCDPL’s Interactive Room will wrap up with a watch party that morning at 10 a.m. The livestream can also be viewed from your home through the ALA website.
