I am proud to endorse Megan Newlove for Wood County Probate/Juvenile Court judge.
I have known Megan for more than 15 years, dating back to my own time serving on Bowling Green City Council, where I held the seat Megan left when she moved on from council. Since then, I have continued to watch her serve our community, both during my time on council and now as mayor.
I have had a front-row seat to Megan’s work on the Board of Public Utilities, where she has served as chair for much of that time. I have seen her lead that board through difficult decisions, and, at times, difficult conversations.
What has always stood out to me is the way Megan handles those situations. She makes sure people have an opportunity to be heard. She listens. And even when someone strongly disagrees with her or with the board’s position, she insists that they are treated with respect.
That tells you a lot about Megan.
Her judgment is careful, but she is not slow to make a decision. She takes the time to understand the issue, hear from the people involved, and consider the consequences. But when it is time to decides, she does it clearly and without unneccessary delay.
I have also seen Megan work under real pressure. She does not lose her composure, and she does not lose sight of being fair. Those are qualities that matter a great deal when you are serving on the bench.
Wood County needs judges who will listen, who will be fair, who will make thoughtful decisions, and who will treat everyone who comes before them with dignity and respect. I have seen those qualities in Megan for more than 15 years.
I have confidence in Megan Newlove, and I believe she will make an excellent judge. I encourage the voters of Wood County to join me in supporting her.
