Michigan truck driver dies in one-vehicle crash

A Michigan truck driver died today (Jan. 24) when the vehicle he was drove off I-75 in Middleton Township and ended up in a backyard of a nearby property.

According to Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 58-year-old Pedro Maldonado of Shelby Township, Michigan, was headed northbound on I-75 near milepost 188 shortly after 6 p.m. when the 2020 International box truck he was operating traveled off the right side of the roadway and through the right-of-way fence. Maldonado continued across a field and into the backyard of 11511 Dowling Road where he struck a drain grate and a metal barrel.

Maldonado was transported by Perrysburg Township EMS to Mercy Health –Perrysburg Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Perrysburg Township Police

Department, Perrysburg Township Fire and EMS, and Bubba’s Towing.
