National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County will host two events focused on mindfulness, several support group meetings, a workshop and a book club meeting in June.

Painting mindfully and cooking mindfully are the two Nite Out with NAMI Wood County events planned for June 14 and June 21, respectively. Both events are free and will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at the NAMI Wood County office, 1250 Ridgewood Dr., Bowling Green.

At the painting mindfully event, participants will learn basic painting techniques and the value of painting as a coping mechanism. With guided instructions, attendees will create their own work of art to take home.

Participants in the cooking mindfully event will learn a few simple and healthy recipes in the “Nourish to Flourish” class, where they will learn to eat healthy while staying on a budget. They will have the opportunity to make some delicious recipes.

The mindfulness events are open to the community. Registration for the events is on Nite-Out-NAMI Wood County website.

The book “How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing” by K.C. Davis, is the focus of NAMI Wood County’s book club discussion from 10 to 11 a.m. on June 14. The book offers suggestions for maintaining a clean, organized way of living when things get too busy and a reminder that we are all doing the best we can.

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Workshop is a two-day, free-of-charge, self-designed course on identifying your personal wellness tools. The next WRAP workshop occurs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 22-23 at the Bowling Green office. Register at the WRAP website.

NAMI Wood County hosts their Family and Caregiver Support Group on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 2-3:30 p.m. at the NAMI Wood County office. This support group is a peer-led support group for parents, family members and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness.
