The new Wood County District Library bookmobile is scheduled to arrive in Bowling Green on Wednesday.

The custom-built vehicle was purchased for $210,000 from Tesco Specialty Vehicles in the city of Oregon.

It made its debut last week when it was exhibited at the national Public Library Association meeting in Columbus.

The trustees approved the purchase in July.

Last year the bookmobile facilitated the presentation of 246 youth programs that served 4852 attendees and 15 adult programs serving 1676 patrons. That was in a year when the vehicle was sidelined for more than a month.

The new vehicle replaces a 13-year-old bookmobile that runs on compressed gas. Repairing that vehicle has becoming increasingly difficult.

The new gas-powered bookmobile will have a greater range.
