Perrysburg Musical Theatre stages ‘Next to Normal’ that tackles mental health issues

The Perrysburg Musical Theatre will open its Season 14 with the “Next to Normal.” 

The musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt will be staged Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Juliet Beck Auditorium inside the Commodore Building, 140 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg.

Julie Bermudez serves as artistic director, Julie Zatko directs with  musical direction by Charles Ligus.

PMT is partnering with the Monarch Grief Center in connection with this production of Next to Normal. The troupe hopes to connect art, education and open discussions about family struggles with mental health and grief.

PMT will be accepting donations to the Monarch so that they can continue their mission of supporting those grieving. Donations can be made online when purchasing presale tickets as well as during the performance.

“Next to Normal” explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness.
