Photos capture moments in time at Wood County Fair

The Klassy Kids 4-H Club won the decorated bale contest with their Red, White and Moo theme.

The Wood County Fair is a week (actually 8 days) of activities as varied as showing livestock and 4-H projects to enjoying fair food and entertainment.

Wandering the fairgrounds on any given day, you will realize how many different walks of life come together in a week of tradition, reunion and celebration. Here are a few moments in time captured so far this week.

A longtime tradition at the fair is the Chainsaw Carving demonstration. This is the beginning of the week, with all the tree trunks that will be carved into magnificent pieces of art. The final products are then sold at auction on Sunday (Aug. 3) at 3:30 p.m. in the Sheep Show Arena.
The Winning Edge 4-H Club was another club that participated in the decorated bale contest. They didn’t win, but who doesn’t love a giant marshmallow/s’more? Look around the fairgrounds to see all the decorated hay bales.
The Wood County Fair Horse Department doesn’t stop. There is almost always something going on in the Horse Arena, such as shows or fun activities for the horse clubs.
Scott Kisabeth, a member of the Northwest Ohio Wood Workers Guild was one of the group’s members who demonstrated woodworking skills. Members are in the Fine Arts Building tonight and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. At 4 p.m. Saturday, the group will host the Kids Tool Box Making in the Fine Arts Building.
