Robert L. Engle, 86, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
Robert was born on May 28, 1930 in Portage, Ohio to the late Henry and Mary (Hipsher) Engle. He married Nina (Mills) Engle on January 12, 1950 and she survives in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Along with his wife Nina, Robert is survived by a daughter: Cathy (Mike) Romaker, of Rudolph; grandchildren: Eric, Betty and Robert Engle; 6 great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law: Kathy Engle, of Bowling Green. Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son Mark L. Engle; a brother: Richard Engle and a sister: Cora Davis.
Robert retired after 32 years from the United States Post office. Robert served his country proudly in the United States Air Force where he was a Sergeant in the Berlin Airlift. He was a member of the Post 2148 Elks where he served as the Exalted Ruler in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was a lifetime member since the 1960’s of the VFW where he served as commander; as well as the American Legion and Moose. Robert enjoyed golfing and was an avid hunter and fisherman when he was younger.
Visitation for Robert will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of his Memorial Service with Military Honors at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in the Cloverdale United Methodist Church, 8984 Kramer Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. A Funeral Luncheon will immediately follow the service. Interment will be held privately at a later date in the Union Hill Cemetery.
