Sheriff’s Office investigating 3-vehicle crash in Troy Township that killed Woodville man

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a three-vehicle crash in Troy Township this afternoon in which one driver was killed.

At approximately 12:46 p.m., the sheriff’s office was alerted to a crash on U.S. 23 just south of Ohio 582. A 2014 Chevy Cruze, driven by William Grimm, 76, of Woodville, was stopped in the southbound lane on Route 23, waiting to make a left turn.

A 2010 Hyundai, driven by Chelsea Fairchild, 31, of Mansfield, reportedly struck Grimm’s car from behind, pushing him into the northbound lane where he was struck head-on by a 2016 Chevy Cruze driven by Andrew Holcomb, 21, of Gibsonburg.

Fairchild and Holcomb were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. Grimm was transported by air ambulance to Toledo Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival. 

Assisting on the scene were Troy Township EMS, Pemberville/Freedom EMS, Sandusky County EMS, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
