From TOLEDO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Toledo Concert Band featuring members of the Toledo Symphony will perform a free Independence Day concert on Monday, July 4 at 2 p.m., at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums in Fremont, Ohio under the direction of Bruce Moss. This year’s performance, sponsored by Hal & Diane Hawk and Crown Battery with additional funding by the City of Fremont, will also be broadcast on television and radio through WGTE.
“People in the community and surrounding region love this patriotic event and look forward to it every year,” says Kristina Smith, Marketing & Communications Manager for the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. “We are so grateful to our partners at the Toledo Symphony and Toledo Concert Band for their fantastic performance here and all the behind-the-scenes work they do to make it happen. We are also grateful to WGTE for broadcasting the concert. Having this performance at the home of one of our U.S. presidents on Independence Day is very special.”
The annual concert featuring the Toledo Concert Band has been performed on the verandah of President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes’ historic home every Fourth of July since 1997. The band will perform a variety of patriotic music, including Stars and Stripes Forever, America the Beautiful, and more, plus Civil War reenactors will punctuate the performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with real cannon fire. The concert will also be broadcast on Friday, July 8 at 7PM (FM91) and available to watch on WGTE HD on Sunday, July 10 at 6:30PM. Viewers can listen to the livestream at wgte.org and the WGTE app on both dates.
“Without a doubt, Rutherford B. Hayes’ historic home is one of the most picturesque concert locations at which we perform,” says Keith McWatters, Toledo Symphony Orchestra Manager. “It is a beautiful setting and a great way for us to celebrate Independence Day with the entire community, an event we look forward to every year.”
