Two die in morning crash

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office reports that it is investigating a two-vehicle crash this morning (March 5, 2021) which occurred at 7:10 a.m. which resulted in two fatalities. The crash occurred in the intersection of US Route 6
at Ohio 199S.

The crash involved an International Semi-tractor with an attached dry-bulk tanker and a Chrysler Sebring. The investigation showed that the International was eastbound and upon approach to the intersection, the northbound Chrysler, failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck in the intersection door on the driver’s side door.

Both the operator and passenger of the Chrysler were pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the International was not injured.

The operator of the International, was identified as Michael Trumbull, 62, and was from Rudolph. The operator of the Chrysler, was identified as Emmanuel De La Cruz, 19, and was from Grand Prairie, Texas. The passenger of the Chrysler was Rigoberto Herrera, 18, and was from Fostoria.

Assisting on location was Pemberville Fire and EMS and Wayne Fire and Mid-County EMS, two Promedica Air Ambulances, and ODOT.

The incident is still under investigation.
