Jeff Klein, Emergency Management Agency director for Wood County, has issued the following advisory:
This weekend is shaping up to be a wet one. Showers are likely, with a possibility of thunderstorms after 2pm today with rain ending this evening. The next rain event will be Saturday afternoon through late Sunday morning. Snow Sunday morning is possible but expected to end by 5am. Due to our recent warmer temperatures, we do not expect any accumulation on the ground in Wood County.
We do have additional rainfall forecasted for next week Monday and Wednesday, but is still too far out to determine rain amounts.
Currently, the only flood warning for Wood County is on the Portage River from Pemberville to Woodville. However, I75 near Bluffton is presently closed due to flooding and Findlay is experiencing flooding issues as well. Flooding can be very dynamic and happen with little notice. We encourage everyone to be alert to changing conditions and never drive though flooded roadways. Six inches can stall a vehicle and 12 inches lift it off the road causing you to lose control. Now is the time to review flooding prevention information from NWS:https://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
The Wood County EMA will continue to provide updates as conditions change. Please follow NWS and local media for the most up-to-date information.
