Wood County Board of Health donates no longer used trailer to food pantry

The Wood County Board of Health voted Thursday evening to donate a trailer to the Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry.

The 28-foot Medical Reserve Corp trailer is no longer used by the health department, so it was decided to transfer the title to the food pantry, which will use the trailer when picking up food supplies in Toledo and bringing them back to Bowling Green.

Health board member Richard Strow talked about the growing demands at local food pantries.

“There’s a lot of need out there,” he said.

Also at Thursday’s meeting, the board heard from Deputy Health Commissioner Amy Jones that the health department has been reaccredited. “We met every requirement,” Jones said.

The agency goes through the accreditation process every five years.
