The Wood County Emergency Management Agency has issued the following advisory:
The National Weather Service Cleveland now has Wood County under a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 p.m. through noon Tuesday.
There is a potential for hazardous driving conditions tomorrow morning. NWS North Webster Indiana has moved the timing up 3-hours for their forecast area including all counties immediately to our west. Their estimated start time is near 4 p.m., which could impact conditions in Wood County during the evening commute hours. For Wood County, we are still looking at around 6pm for the most impactful rain to start.
Wood County is expecting steady freezing rain overnight transitioning to rain around 7-8 a.m. Ice accumulation of 0.10”- 0.20” can be expected by 8 a.m. Temperatures will increase to the 40’s Tuesday with rain continuing to about midnight. Visibility is expected to diminish tomorrow, as fog will likely be through the later part of the day.
A Winter Weather Advisory is issued by the National Weather Service when a low-pressure system produces a combination of winter weather (snow, freezing rain, sleet, etc.) that present a hazard, but does not meet warning criteria.
With this advisory, all of Wood County is in the “best chance” for up to 0.2” of ice.
What to expect:
· Freezing rain will arrive this evening and continue in eastern areas into Tuesday morning.
· Light icing is possible on untreated and elevated surfaces with a wintry mix possible in northeastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania.
What has changed:
The Winter Weather Advisory for Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, and Sandusky counties now starts at 7 p.m. this evening. The Winter Weather Advisory for the rest of the area still starts at Midnight tonight.
