A 64-year-old Bowling Green man died this morning (July 7, 2026) in a two-vehicle crash in Plain Township. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 9:50 a.m.
The sheriff’s office reported that their initial investigation shows that 2015 Chrysler 200S, operated by Kevin Petz, 64 of Bowling Green, was traveling southbound on Liberty Hi Road and failed to stop at the marked stop sign and struck the driver’s side of a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban, operated by Amanda Westhoven, 50 of Defiance, which was westbound on Bowling Green Road.
Petz was pronounced dead at the scene. Westhoven was injured and flown via air-ambulance from the scene.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The sheriff reports that at this time alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
Assisting the Wood County Sheriff’s Office on location were Weston Fire Department, Mid-County 120 EMS, Mercy St. Vincent air-ambulance, Wright Tire and Auto, and Or’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
