Artist masks up art at Fifth Third Field

Bowling Green artist Emanuel Enriquez visited the “Who’s Up?” sculpture at Fifth Third Field in Toledo on Saturday to express his concerns about compliance with the mandatory mask orders in Toledo.

“I wanted to take a photograph that hopefully will bring a smile to people’s faces,” he said.

Enriquez noted that when he was working on the sculpture, he visited the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York, to research the clothing worn by the children in his sculpture.

“My concept came from historical photographs of children attending games just prior to The Great Depression,” he said. “I wanted to remind people that we have lived through difficult times before and that we will get through this together.”
