Wood County voters will be deciding tax levy requests, plus filling city council and school board seats this Nov. 2.
Today at 4 p.m. was the deadline for issues and candidates to file with the Wood County Board of Elections. The elections board will meet on Aug. 13 to certify the items to appear on ballots.
Every city and village council, township boards of trustees, and school district boards of education in Wood County will be electing members.
Here is a preliminary list of issues and candidates filing to appear on Bowling Green area ballots:
Bowling Green Board of Education (two to be elected):
- Norm Geer
- Ryan Myers
- Jessica Swaisgood
- Peggy Thompson
Bowling Green City Council:
- Council-at-large (two to be elected): Democrat Mark Hollenbaugh and Republican Gregory Robinette.
- First Ward (one to be elected): Republican Mark R. Hanson and Democrat Nick Rubando.
- Second Ward (one to be elected): Democrat Joel O’Dorisio.
- Third Ward (one to be elected): Republican Tony J. Hunter and Democrat Rachel Phipps.
- Fourth Ward (one to be elected): Republican William Herald and Democrat Sandra Rowland.
Several municipalities, townships and school districts will also see tax issues on their ballots. Bowling Green area voters will see three tax levies on Nov. 2. Following is a list of those filing as of today’s deadline:
Wood County Committee on Aging – Renewal tax levy of 0.7 mills, plus an increase of 0.3 mills, for five years. The revenues would help provide and maintain senior citizen services or facilities by the Wood County Committee on Aging.
City of Bowling Green – Replacement of 2-mill tax levy for five years, for providing funds for parks and recreational purposes.
Bowling Green City School District – Renewal of 0.5% income tax for a continuing period of time, for current expenses.
