BG FFA Chapter raises money for Nationwide Children’s Hospital during annual tailgate event

Members of the community try to dunk BGHS Principal Dan Black in the dunk tank at the annual BG FFA tailgate.

The Bowling Green FFA Chapter kicked off the year with their annual tailgate before the Bowling Green vs. Oregon Clay football game. The event raised $1,012 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Toledo.

The night consisted of a dunk tank with Bowling Green City Schools teachers and staff: Mr. Black, Mrs. Utz, Mr. Hale, Dr. Tiell, Mrs. Nye and Mr. Ferguson. The FFA members appreciated them making a splash to help the chapter raise money for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Toledo. In addition, guests were also able to enjoy inflatable activities such as an obstacle course, slide and a bounce house. Face Painting was provided by the BGHS StuCrew.

Thanks to the donation by Belleville’s Meat Market, the BG FFA Chapter was able to provide free hot dogs, chips and cookies for the attendees during the event.

As the first half of the football game came to an end, the FFA chapter along with the help of the BGHS Spirit Squad completed a “miracle” halftime. FFA and Spirit Squad members ran through the stands to collect spare change and money as a final push for donations to the hospital.

A grand total of money raised at tailgate, along with other events throughout the year, will be announced at the Bobcat-A-Thon event in March.
