BG man charged with punching woman in face

A Bowling Green man was arrested for assault Wednesday after allegedly punching a woman in the face.

Michael Larry Johnson, 46, of 175½ N. Main St., was served with the charge at the Wood County jail, where he had already been taken on an unrelated charge of criminal damaging.

Bowling Green Police Division responded to Wood County Hospital, where the victim had gone for care. She told police that Johnson had asked her to perform a sex act. She declined, and reportedly told Johnson’s girlfriend of his request. An argument ensued, and Johnson reportedly punched the victim in the face.

According to the police report, the victim’s face was red and swollen, and there was bruising around one eye. The victim was able to show police Johnson’s picture on Facebook.

The police report said the officer recognized Johnson because he had just been on an unrelated call about 10 minutes earlier, where Johnson had been arrested for criminal damaging.

Johnson had a swollen hand, which he told police occurred when he was hitting a “punching bag.”
