BG School Board member Tracy Hovest earns Aptitude Award from OSBA

Tracy Hovest

Bowling Green Board of Education member Tracy Hovest was recently presented with the Ohio School Boards Association’s Aptitude Award at the association’s Northwest Region Fall Conference.

The conference was held Oct. 6 at Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Centers.

The Aptitude Award recognizes school board members who demonstrate an understanding and comprehension of a variety of board governance skills based on six leadership areas: vision, accountability, policy, community engagement, relationships and advocacy.

The Aptitude Award is one of four recognitions that comprise the association’s STAR Awards, which honor the work of school board members. The S is for Service, T for Training, A for Aptitude and R is for Recognition. A board member that receives all four of these awards during a three-year period becomes a Master Board Member.

Founded in 1955, the Ohio School Boards Association serves Ohio’s public school board members and the diverse districts they represent through service, advocacy and creative solutions.
