The Bowling Green High School Drama Club will present its annual slate of student-directed One-Act Plays Wednesday, Jan. 29, Thursday, Jan. 30,  and Friday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. each evening in the Performing Arts Center. Three unique plays, plus the student-led Improv Troupe, will prompt chuckles, provoke thought and maybe even produce a tear.

Directing “Tracks” by Peter Tarsi is junior Terra Sloane. A group of strangers meet in a dirty subway station, having arrived with limited personal belongings. Their watches have stopped and they all claim to be in different cities. Discovering there is no way out of the station, they soon learn a truth that causes them to reflect upon their lives and recall and confess past deeds. This pensive play features senior Thomas Long, juniors Isa Herrera, Allison Nonnemaker and Sasha Zengel, sophomores Katie Partlow, Katie Mangan and Lauren Goberman, and freshmen Chloe Sands, Jezelle Mitsch and Lauren Carmen.

Maddy Depinet and Ethan Chou as characters on a blind date in “Check Please Take 2”

Co-directing the comedy “Check Please Take 2” by Jonathan Rand are juniors Cole Nemeth and Emma Matney, and sophomore Lauren Clifford. Soon after their relationship ends, Guy and Girl are forced by their well-intentioned best friends to plunge back into the dating pool. Unfortunately that pool is filled with foot-reading psychics, frustrated polygamists, and extreme accountants! Performing roles in this zany story are seniors Maddy Depinet, Kiki Schempf and Isaac Douglass, junior and Ethan Chou, and sophomore Jaycob Bagrowski.

Directing his own original play “Not Quite Gone” is senior Ethan Brown with senior Anne Weaver co-directing. With the help of a friend, an aging woman experiencing dementia discovers how to remember her past. Actors include seniors Sophi Hachtel, Bob Walters and Mason Clifford, and freshmen Audrey Nester, Whitney Bechstein and Katie Osten.

The student-led Improv Troupe will also perform. This year’s co-leaders are Thomas Long and Mason Clifford. They perform alongside Katie Mangan, Ethan Brown, Terra Sloane, Katie Partlow, Isaac Douglass, Emma Matney, Chloe Sands, Allison Nonnemaker, Dylan Perez and Anne Weaver.

Junior Cody Ray serves as production stage manager.

Tickets for this performance are $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults.

The BGHS Drama Club advisor is Dr. Jo Beth Gonzalez, and the PAC manager and theatre technical director is Mr. Ryan Albrecht.
