BGPD pursues 2 Dodge Chargers speeding through city, running stop signs

Bowling Green Police Division was notified Sunday at 3:32 a.m., by the Ohio State Patrol of two Dodge Chargers speeding through the city with no lights on.

The Chargers, one white and one blue, were traveling southbound on North Main Street at a high rate of speed and failing to stop for stop lights, according to the patrol.

A Bowling Green officer turned onto the 100 block of East Court Street, and observed the Chargers traveling south at a high rate of speed, with their headlights and tail lights off. Both cars had dark covers over their license plates.

An officer, who was at the four corners downtown, turned on his overhead lights and siren, and tried to stop the vehicles in the 100 block of East Wooster Street.

The drivers reportedly failed to stop and headed northbound onto North Prospect Street. The two vehicles reportedly failed to stop for the stoplight at North Prospect and East Court streets, and continued northbound at a high rate of speed. 

The drivers then ran a series of stop signs on North Prospect Street at Ridge, East Merry and East Poe Road.

The vehicles then continued northbound out of the city on North Main Street. When the vehicles turned onto Main Street, the state patrol took the primary role in the pursuit.

One Bowling Green officer continued to follow the state patrol vehicle, until another trooper could join the pursuit near Ohio 582.

The state patrol was able to stop the blue Charger at Interstate 475 and Airport Highway. The driver, Mati Jaleel Bila Bila, 20, of Macomb, Michigan, was charged by BGPD with driving without headlights, and failing to stop for red lights and stop signs.

State patrol filed additional charges, including failure to comply.
