Bowling Green State University in compliance with the the provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure Act has reported that a female student reported that she was fondled in Offenhauer West on Feb. 6, 2020. The suspect is a male who is known to the student through social media. While in her residence hall room the male suspect touched a private body part without consent.
The university report stated: “The University shares this information so that members of the community can take appropriate precautions.”

Risk Reduction and Prevention
While the ultimate responsibility lies with those who are initiating sex acts, understanding some facts about sexual assault and consent can help reduce the risk. The following information is to heighten your awareness, enable bystanders to intervene where possible and aid in the prevention of similar crimes:
- Sexual assault is never the survivor’s fault.
- On college campuses, 90 percent of sexual assaults are committed by someone known to the survivor.
- For any sexual activity, consent must be present.
- A person may withdraw consent at any time.
- Alcohol and other drugs may be used to facilitate sexual assault.
- Remember to Step Up and Step In.
- The campus shuttle service or a taxi provides safe options for transportation.

Reporting
If you see a crime being committed, call 911. Sexual assaults that occur on campus can be reported to the BGSU Police at 419-372-2346. Sexual assaults that occur off campus can be reported to Bowling Green City Police (911 or 419-352-2571 for non-emergencies) or police in the jurisdiction in which the assault took place. Sexual assaults involving students may also be reported to BGSU’s Title IX office at 419-372-8476 or the Office of the Dean of Students at 419-372-2843.
