Forced to stay at home because of pandemic restrictions, the BG Bobcat Band decided to give local fans a taste of marching band magic Saturday night.

The band presented “Rock & Roll” a two-hour concert in the football stadium. The band directed by Bruce Corrigan with Kayla Gronsky and Jeremy Stinson performed a concert of rock favorites from the 1950s to the present.

In order to satisfy social distancing protocols, the band traded places with fans. The band, after marching into the stadium on the track, moved into the home grandstands where they could be spaced out.

The listeners, who brought their own chairs and blankets for seating,  were arrayed in carefully measured blocks on the football field. The free show attracted about 600 people.

Special guests the Falcon Marching Band performed midway through the concert.

This is the first of a series of concerts. The band will perform stadium concerts Saturday, Sept. 26, with Sept. 27 as the rain date, and Saturday Oct. 17, with Oct. 18, as the rain date. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m. Listeners are encouraged to arrive early so they can find their assigned place on the field.
