The Bobcat Marching Band with special guests the Falcon Marching Band will perform in a socially distanced setting Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Bobcat Stadium.

Band Director Bruce Corrigan hopes this is the first of several such shows this fall.

The performance will be free. Attendees are asked to bring items to donate to the Brown Bag Food Project. There will be a drive-thru collection in the Middle School parking lot. Look for the BG Schools White Box Truck.

The audience is asked to arrive between 6:50 and  7:20 p.m. Saturday. The tickets will be distributed inside the stadium at the track entrance on the south end of the football field.  These tickets will indicate where the listener can sit.  Ushers will assist people to help to find their seats. Those attending should bring chairs and blankets to sit on. Masks and social distancing are required at public events.

The audience will be located on the football field on 15 x 15-foot squares halfway between the yard lines in groups of  one to four  (a group of 8 could get two adjacent 15 x 15 ticket areas).

Bobcat Marching Band socially distanced in grandstand.

The Bobcat band will march in at 7:30 and perform its pregame show on the track, before going to the home grandstands where it will perform a program celebrating rock music with selections from each decade from the 1950s to the present.

Members of the Falcon Marching Band, directed by Michael King, will perform in the middle of the Bobcat Band program. The BGSU twirlers, drumline, woodwinds, and brass will be performing Falcon favorites.

The performance, Corrigan said, is one way the band is trying to provide “provided positive experiences for our students, our parents, and our community” while adhering the guidelines and safety precautions necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The standard system for marching doesn’t allow for social distancing, and the band seated and socially distanced would take up almost all the home grandstand.

The arrangements for Saturday’s show overcome those obstacles.
