Campus COVID cases dwindle

As the semester at Bowling Green State University winds down, so do the number of COVID-19 cases.

Between Dec. 2 and Dec. 8, the university reported 38 new cases – 33 students, one faculty and four staff. Of those, 94 percent were people living off campus. That’s down from 50 cases last week. The university has 19 active cases being monitored by their local health departments.

Two students, who tested positive, remain in isolation on campus.

The university also conducted 968 tests of asymptomatic individuals in targeted populations. Two tested positive,  a 0.3-percent positivity rate.

Since the beginning of the semester, 7,092 random surveillance tests have been done with 45 individuals testing positive, a 0.6 percent positivity rate.

Since Aug. 20,  there have been 968 BGSU cases – 910 students,  15 faculty, and 43 staff.
