Driver’s slide past Taco Bell leads to police cruiser crash

A Bowling Green police cruiser sustained “functional” damage on Monday, when the officer driving had to swerve to avoid a vehicle sliding into his lane.

A report on the accident stated the crash occurred around 6:25 p.m., when Officer Ryan Tackett was eastbound in the 300 block of East Wooster Street.  A vehicle driven by Holli Shaw, of Westland, Michigan, was westbound on East Wooster Street, and attempted to turn into the entrance to Taco Bell.

Due to the slippery road conditions, Shaw lost control of the vehicle and entered the eastbound lane of traffic. According to the report, Tackett had to swerve to avoid collision with Shaw’s vehicle, and struck a sign.

There were no physical injuries, but the police cruiser sustained more than minor damage.

Shaw was cited for failure to yield the right of way on a public highway.
