Groundbreaking set for Walbridge library expansion, Aug. 16

Groundbreaking on the renovation and expansion project of the Wood County District Public Library’s Walbridge Branch, 108 N. Main St., Walbridge, will take place Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 3 p.m.

Brief comments will be made by guests of honor Brian Paskvan, president, Library Board of Trustees, Senator Randy Gardner, the Wood County Commissioners, and Walbridge Mayor Edward Kolanko. Following the ceremony light refreshments will be served in the library.

The project will increase the library building in size from 4,000 to 8,000 feet, allowing more space for technology, people, and classes and events. The area dedicated to children’ collections and activities will nearly double. Other new features of the building include a dedicated meeting room which will seat 80 and be equipped with a catering kitchen and technology for educational training and presentations and programs such as Skyping with authors. Plans for the expansion will be on display in the library.
