A suicidal Henry County man whose actions led to the lockdown of three Bowling City schools is deceased.
Sheriff Michael Bodenbender, of Henry County, said the individual has taken is own life in Henry County. “It’s just sad.”
He also said that it is uncertain whether the man was ever in Bowling Green. The information was based on pings from his cell phone, and “those are not that accurate.”
On Tuesday at noontime, Bowling Green police acting on information from Henry County suspected that the man was in City Park carrying an AR-15 rifle. He was never located.
But three schools in the neighborhood — Conneaut Elementary, the high school, and middle school — were put on lockdown for about a half hour.
Bodenbender said that his deputies were actively searching for the unnamed individual because his family had called. They were worried he would take his own life.
“He was never a threat toward anyone else even us,” he said.
