Marie L Hoffman

Marie Louise Hoffman, 96, of Bowling Green, Ohio and LaBelle, FL passed away peacefully at home in Bowling Green on October 22nd, surrounded by her children and many family members. She was born on August 19, 1927 to George and Ethel (Lindbergh) Carlson in Superior, WI and grew up in Albany, NY.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Oscar William Hoffman, brother, Donald and sister-in-law Maxine, brothers-in-law Robert and his wife, Rosemary, Karl (who is survived by his wife, Rosie) and sister-in-law Delores and her husband, Don. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary.

She is survived by her six children, 14 grandchildren, 19 (and counting) great grandchildren: Gary (Deb), Mike (Lynne), Anne Martin (Scott, deceased in 2019), Susan Wagner (Dan), Barbara, and Steven (Cynthia). Grandchildren Megan, Jessica, Andrea, Kristine, Garret, Adam, Robert, Bryan, Brett, Craig, Danielle, Brandon, Andrew, Zachary. Great Grandchildren Wyatt, Kaitlyn, Eli, Emma, Alia, Hallie, Scarlett, Luca, Thomas, Holden, Jackson, Bennett, Sienna, Charlie, Huck, Grace, Behr, Gwen, and George.

Marie graduated from University of Wisconsin in 1949 with a degree in Home Economics. She was active in her Church, St. Aloysius in Bowling Green, Altar & Rosary Society. Our Lady Queen of Heaven in LaBelle and St. Vincent de Paul of Fort Myers. She remained active with Alpha Xi Delta her entire life, League of Women’s Voters, and assisted Drop/Add for many years at Bowling Green State University. She married Oscar in Fremont Ohio in 1952 and raised her family in Bowling Green, Ohio. Marie kept the books and served as office manager for Hoffman Equipment Company, the Ford implement dealership north of BG. She and Oscar loved to travel, and when they retired in 1985, they travelled in their motor home all over North America, with a home base in the Florida Keys. They settled in LaBelle, FL in their seventies and made many friends in their new community. After Oscar died, she remained very busy and active with her friends and family, traveling all over the world. She especially loved her family gatherings.

There will be a celebration of Marie’s life in the summer of 2024.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St.
