Bowling Green City Council Tuesday confirmed the mayor’s appointments to the newly created Historic Preservation Commission.
Edwards, who initiated the formation of the commission, nominated five members with staggered terms. The body includes one member from each of the four wards and one from the downtown business district.
Appointed were:
• Greg Halamay, owner of Finders Records, who will represent both downtown property owners and downtown business owners, four-year term expiring May 31, 2023.
- John Sampen, distinguished professor of music at Bowling Green State University, representing Ward 4, three-year term expiring, May 31, 2022.
- Reina Calderon, an attorney who recently served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, representing Ward 2, three-year term expiring May 31, 2022.
- Les Barber, retired BGSU professor and administrator, representing Ward 1, two-year term expiring May 31, 2021.
- Gail Nader, a resident of historic Boom Town Historic District, representing Ward 3, two-year term, expiring May 31, 2021.
Edwards said he will present the board with a study done about historic preservation several years ago.
Council also appointed Ron Newlove to a three-year term on the Bowling Green Housing Agency, and Lt. Dan Mancuso, of the Police Division, as an ex officio member of the Taxicab License Board.
