Michael Szabo

Michael Scott Szabo, 60, of Dublin, Ohio and formerly of Bowling Green, passed away July 1, 2023. He was born February 22, 1963 in Bowling Green to Ernest and Mary Lou (Gibson) Szabo.

Mike was a 1981 graduate of Bowling Green High School. He was a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green and a member of the Maumee-Bowling Green Elks Lodge. He started working as an accountant for Ernst & Young and was currently employed as an accountant consultant for Resources Global Professionals. He also spent several years working as the controller for the family scrapyard business E & M Recycling.

Mike was the one you could always count on, always lending a helping hand to family and friends in need. Mike traveled back and forth from Columbus to help take care of his mother Mary Lou. He made sure she made it to church every weekend and to see her brother up in Toledo. He would also take her to the grocery and help her with any other errands she needed to run. He was the family’s center, and all the family relied on him in their time of need. Not only would he help his family, but he was always willing to help neighbors and members of St. Aloysius. Mike embraced his role as an uncle. He loved his nieces & nephews and always made it a priority to attend their events.

Mike is survived by his mother Mary Lou Szabo of Bowling Green, siblings Jeffrey (Diana) Szabo of Bowling Green, Donald Szabo of Bowling Green, Mary Ann (Craig) Mason of Findlay, Ohio, Kathy (Jim) Starek of Strongsville, Ohio and Donna Jean Szabo of West Covina, California, nieces and nephews Josh (Ashley) Mason, Chelsea (Cody) Rife, Anna Szabo, Kyra Starek and Logan Starek and great-niece Sawyer.

He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Szabo and brother Timothy Szabo.
