National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County offers a variety of free events, educational classes, support groups and other programs that address mental health for the Wood County community.
The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Workshop is a free, two-day, self-designed course for identifying personal wellness tools. The workshop will focus on tools to achieve financial wellness. The workshop is Feb. 16-17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at the new NAMI location at 1250 Ridgewood Drive, Bowling Green. Visit namiwoodcounty.org to register.
The NAMI Parent and Caregiver Support Group meets every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the NAMI Wood County office. The support group, which started on Dec. 6, 2022, is peer-led for parents and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness.
Educational courses offered by NAMI include Family-to-Family, Peer-to-Peer and NAMI Basics. Registration for each of the courses is at namiwoodcounty.org. All of the classes are held at the Bowling Green office.
Family-to-Family is for families, caregivers and friends of individuals living with mental illness. The next class starts on March 20 from 6-8:30 p.m.
Individuals living with a mental illness can participate in the Peer-to-Peer class which starts March 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
NAMI Basics is a three-session course for parents and caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses. Topics include the fundamentals of caring for yourself, your family and your child. The sessions, which are from 9:30 a.m. to noon, will run for three consecutive Saturdays, April 22 through May 6.
Volunteer opportunities are available with NAMI as a support group or class facilitator, office volunteer and more.
