North Carolina man identified as fatality in Monday crash on U.S. 6

A North Carolina man has been identified as the driver of a Ford F150 who died when his vehicle was struck by a Freightliner semi-tractor with an attached van trailer Monday (July 19) afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 6 at Bowling Green Road East.

Jeffery Peal, 57, Taylorsville, North Carolina, was operating the truck when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by the Freightliner operated by Troy Pedraza, 49, Napoleon.

Peal was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his vehicle, Jason Bowlin, 44, of Hays, North Carolina, was also injured. Deputies said he was critical but stable.

Pedraza was not injured in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation.
