OVI checkpoint yields few citations

The Ohio State Highway Patrol in conjunction with the Bowling Green Police Department, the Bowling Green State University Police Department, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office conducted an OVI checkpoint on Friday, March 6, from 9 p.m. until midnight on Wooster Street (SR 64) in Bowling Green. 

The OVI checkpoint yielded no OVI arrests with six vehicles being diverted. Out of the diverted vehicles 3 minor misdemeanor Marijuana citations were issued and 3 underage alcohol consumption and open container citations were issued. Contact was made with over 1,015 vehicles at the checkpoint. 

Two OVI arrests were made by Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers, later during the early morning hours, following the completion of the OVI Checkpoint. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds you to call #677, if you suspect an impaired driver.
